Christmas ornament making began over 40 years ago when Grandma Idabelle and Mom Gail began making roll out clay handpainted ornaments. The process improved to wooden ornaments over the years to allow more durable ornaments that will last many years to become family favorites. The ornaments begin as blank cutouts and proceed through a many step process to end up the beautiful handpainted ornaments. Gail's artistic talent allows each cutout to be painted with great detail. Shawna and Rona add creative ideas and help paint whenever possible.

Product Review -- This Santa went over HUGE at my house!!  This would be an awesome hostess gift for those going to holiday parties this year.   Ours is on our mantel and looks fantastic.  The best thing about it is that it's more of a winter decoration than a Christmas one, so even after the holidays you can keep it up for a few months.  I love this decoration because of it's one-of-a-kind style and it's use of recycled materials.  Order yours today for the holiday season :-)

Heather came over this week to photograph my daughter for our upcoming Christmas card.  I was blown away not only by her photography talent but also by how wonderfully she interacted with my VERY active 3-year-old.  Heather was very professional and time-efficient and it was so convenient that she brought her entire portable studio RIGHT to our home!!   She had a "sneak peak" preview of my pictures available less than TWELVE hours later!!  She is an incredibly talented photographer who produces beautiful work.  Here are some examples...

I think this picture says it all.....

My daughter LOST HER MIND when she saw this zebra hat!!  It is VERY soft and well-made and I love all the detail she put into it with the braided ties and stylish flower on the top!  And besides looking fashionable and over-the-top cute, this little hat will keep her little ears toasty warm on chilly Autumn and Winter days. Halloween is FINALLY over!!  Now it's time to start celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas, and you know what that means... 

Tis the season to go shopping!!

But during the holidays, let us not forget that there are many of us in our area who are less fortunate than we.  Children who are growing up without basic necessities such as food, shelter, warm clothes, and books.....BOOKS, you might say? Is that a necessity?  Well here are some statistics...

According to the AAP (American Association of Pediatrics), reading is a significant aid in brain development and encourages a solidifying, emotional bond between parent and child.

Based on the research by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), research indicates, “Reading is the single most important skill necessary for a happy, productive and successful life. A child that is an excellent reader is a confident child, has a high level of self esteem and is able to easily make the transition from learning to read to reading to learn.”

  

U.S. Department of Education analysis found that children who were read to at least three times a week by a family member were almost twice as likely to score in the top 25 percent in reading than children who were read to less than three times a week. 

So this year, Erin's List is teaming up with several local organization to give children in need in our area access to high-quality books.  If you have some books you would like to donate, please comment on this post or on FB. We will collect the books until December 1st, at which time we will distribute them to the following organizations....
